Since the majority of the work I do for my internship is for people who also work under my boss, the feedback mainly comes from them and gets reported back to me from my boss, Millie. So far, each week, Millie has told me that everyone appreciates having my help and that everyone seems to only be giving her positive comments! She says that they all respect the fact that I ask questions when I am unsure of something, rather than just making assumptions.
At the beginning of my internship, when I was given a pile
of 200+ papers to be filed, it would take me about an hour to sort through and
divide the pile into the 20-30 different stations they had to be placed in. My
boss advised that rather than going through the pile paper by paper, I should
go through it several times and pull out 5-6 stations each time I go through.
At first, because I was unfamiliar with the stations’ call letters, this was
very difficult for me to do. They each looked like a jumble of 3-4 different
letters instead of the name of a television station. After a few weeks went by,
these jumbles became much more familiar to me and I have been able to do the
filing much quicker. The piles that used to take me an hour to sort through now
take me about 20-25 minutes.
My experience thus far at Katz Media has taught me that
while something may feel uncomfortable and difficult when you first begin, a
bit of repetition and practice can make the task/process a lot easier!
It sounds like you are learning a lot at your internship, which is great! I can definitely agree, at first some tasks might seem overwhelming, but when you become comfortable with the programs it becomes a lot easier in the future. Keep up the good work!
