Week Overview "7/21-7/25"

Last week was very eventful in the office. Not only did I get to sit in on important meetings but I was also able to see an up and coming artist give a showcase performance right here in the office!

Being in the A&R (artist and repertoire) department is a very exciting place to be in since I get to hear all the new music and help discover new artists before they are marketed and presented to the mass public. A perk of being an intern here is being able to sit in on the A&R meetings which occur every other week. In these meetings executives and assistants hash out new music and artists they've been listening to. It's really quite fascinating to think about the fact that the people discussed in these meetings could very well end up being the superstars of tomorrow. Knowing that they trust me enough to sit in on these meetings and contribute to them by sending them talented artists before hand is very gratifying as well.

As  for the mini in-house concert we had, I'm not allowed to disclose who the artist was since they are not signed yet, but I can say how awesome it was to see. Going to see a show is one thing but when you're among only about 50 or co-workers you really get to see the artist in his/her element.
