Short week at OXO
It has been a short week at OXO because my boss is away for the rest of the week. However, it has certainly been busy. These last 2 days I have spent doing tons and tons of busy work. And by that I mean sending out so many samples to editors I can't even keep track of it. I think this is my least favorite part of my job, but then again, there are always things that are going to frustrate people. On the flip side, I have been doing a lot more writing. Ever since I began to tackle more writing-based tasks, my boss has begun to trust me with a lot more of them, which I am very happy about. The reason I like the writing part of my job (constant contacts and other things to send to editors) is because it feels more academic. Even though internships are incredibly competitive and it seems as though you have to be bright to get a good one, a lot of the actual job does not require much brain power, as it is a lot of busy work. Any chance I actually get to use my brain is kind of exciting, and I feel like it is just another chance for me to try and do something to impress my boss. I have really been focused on making a great impression because I want to walk out of this internship with a great letter of reference. (which I know I will have to ask for pretty soon) But on top of being able to use my brain, I get lost in the writing, itself. It makes the day go by faster, if you know what I mean. I do like my internship but I have been doing a lot of work, especially for someone who is not being paid, so I am glad to have a few days break now.

That is awesome that even though your boss is away you have been able to keep busy! Very cool and I'm not sure if i could say the same for my internship.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work!
How do you keep busy while your boss is away? That's great to hear that your boss trusts you more. I agree that the most competitive part is getting the internship, once that happens, interns have to grow and become used to their role. I hope you continue to leave a great impression at your company, and it helps your career grow in the future.
