The big news over the past week revolved around the addition of two new interns added to our group; one happened to be from my high school which was a big surprise. Both know a lot about this industry so they add a lot more to the group.
In addition, we finished our market structure projects we were assigned a few weeks back. Our advisor split all of us into groups of four where we were told to come up with a good marketing strategy for white labeling. For those who don't know what white labeling is, it's one company producing a product that another company will rebrand and use. Take for example Cheerios cereal; most of us know the original Cheerios produced by General Mills but sometimes we see other cereals that are pretty much Cheerios but are the supermarkets brand (ie. A&P Circled O's). Although we are not rebranding cereals, our goal was to come up a strategy for Cantor Fitzgerald to promote white labeling and why clients should use Cantor versus other big banks and algorithmic providers. Trying to think out of the box, my group and I decided to use a brochure for a hands-on approach to grab client’s attention. Using the title Cantor Connect, we tried to make it sweet and simple, focusing on the benefits, strategies and support team that differentiates Cantor from other companies. The intern group who the team believes did the best job will have their marketing strategy implemented to actual promote Cantor Connect so we are patiently waiting on their decision.

As for the rest of the week, my two weeks are up at the International
desk so I will be moving to the Research Sales department. Here, they focus on
analyzing different stocks to assist the traders what stocks they should and
shouldn't invest in. I am very excited to see this side of equity sales and
actually research the different companies!
Hi Victoria,
ReplyDeleteYour internship seems great. I never knew about white labeling and it is something I would love to learn more about. It seems like you are learning and doing a lot so that is great! Keep up the good work!
This sounds like a wonderful internship that is offering you an amazing opportunity in the marketing field. I hope your team's work gets chosen.
