On one of my first days at work, one of my new colleagues
asked me what my interests are when it comes to a career. I told her that so
far I love working at a public relations agency, but I hope to one day
incorporate fashion into my job. She then
went around the whole office and told me where everyone has worked in the past,
stressing that my knew colleagues will be able to help me in the future. Immediately,
I knew that the rest of the office does not just expect me to do some work and
move on, but they genuinely care about my experience and hope that I benefit
from it. Throughout my summer as an intern so far, multiple girls that I work
with have explained their past jobs to me. A few of them, along with the CEO of
the company, have worked in television in the past at places such as Fox
Business and MSNBC. Another coworker told me that she had wanted to be an
actress, but when a movie fell through she turned to PR. Each of these women
serve as mentors, for they share their own experiences with me and encourage me
to explore all my possibilities at work. I am constantly being asked if there
is a specific project I like working on or a certain client that I like to
focus on. The warmth and care of my colleagues has made my transition from being a student to an intern easy and extremely enjoyable.

ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you are working in a good environment. It is nice to know everybody in the office. In past experiences, I have not always been able to interact with every single person in the office. That ability will serve a critical role throughout your internship. Currently, I am in a similar work environment and have been able to pick the brains of each of my colleagues. It seems like you have already started to do that. Your co-workers' backgrounds appear to be so diverse, which makes it easy to get a little understanding of every facet of the company. I look forward to reading your next posts and seeing how everything.
