Last week my time at Atlantic Records came to end at the culmination of my intern marketing project presentation. Although my team did not win, I still feel that I learned plenty from the experience and was able to use valuable skills that I've learned from presentations in school while working.
Overall, I've found the skills I gained/learned to be incredibly valuable. Since I would ideally like to end up working with in the music industry, the connections in combination with the skills will be very helpful.
What I've learned: I've learned how A&R teams go about researching new artists (live shows, blogs, websites, shazam/itunes/spotify). I've developed a sense for how executives go about critiquing new demos and masters and how they develop a sense for how to create good combinations of songwriters and performers. Most importantly I realize how much hard work and dedication goes into these jobs.
Now that I am finished I have applied and am currently interviewing for a position as a college ground-roots representative for Warner Music Group. I feel that Atlantic has prepared me more than enough for the experience and now look forward to seeing if I get the job!
I'm sure your work here gives you a leg up on your competition. Good luck on your interview!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the completion of your internship! It sounds like you were able to receive a lot from this experience and I wish the best of luck to you with the interview.
ReplyDeleteWow it sounds like you had a great summer internship! My cousin worked for Atlantic records for four years and absolutely loved his time there!
