Looking Back

In the world of production, what matters is not a degree or necessarily an education, but rather a portfolio and the ability to learn quickly. In terms of my liberal arts education helping me with my internship, what stands out in helping me here at HSI are the times spent on set in SAC production courses talking with others who have insight and genuine interest in the industry. Those times have been very important in knowing how to conduct myself on the commercial shoots and being able to be familiar with setting up professional gear. For instance, once I was told over the walkies on a shoot to go to a certain spot and lock down, and because of the production courses, knew exactly what I was to do.

On the contrary, what I am excited for is to bring back the knowledge I have gained from my internship to U of M and apply it to whatever project I will be involved with. From simply being on a professional commercial set I have learned and observed specific tactics that I will be able to bring back to the SAC production courses.

  1. It seems like the classes you took at umich have been very useful. It must be nice to know all that hard work spent in classes pays off.
