I really enjoyed my summer internship at Phase One and I truly learned a lot. Although my boss was not the best at assigning me with specific tasks, he did give me so valuable advice in regards to the music industry. This last week was really cool for me because the CEO mentioned in this weeks staff meeting that he really likes to see growth with the employees; meaning, that he likes to see them start as interns and return back for the summers and then possibly receive a full-time position following their years at school. Also, my boss told me he wanted to remain in touch with me throughout the year, and that any artist I discovered, that the company happened to work with, I would receive credit and possibly get commission.
If I were CEO for a day there wouldn't really be that much I would change. I think each department really knows what they need to accomplish, and do to the atmosphere of the company, which the CEO has instilled, everyone works well together. If I would change one specific thing it would be to enhance our companies marketing, especially the department I work for - A & R for Uprise Music. Unfortunately, when we reached out to DJs/Producers looking to work with, they didn't know that much about us, and I blame that on poor marketing. Recently, we just made a deal for a new song with Spinnin' Records, an extremely successful and powerful EDM record label, and I think this will be a good addition to our resume and a useful tool to pull people in.
