Week 1: Joining the Moosejaw Madness

I am officially a Web Content Copywriter Intern for Moosejaw Mountaineering!

I couldn’t  be happier with the position. I am responsible for (1) writing product descriptions and other

web content, gathering new keywords and assisting with keyword discovery; (2) taking

vendor provided product information to develop engaging and informative landing pages for

Moosejaw.com; and (3) becoming familiar with search engine rankings and best practices for

improving natural search traffic (with an emphasis on the #1). I work remotely part of the time,

but love working in the headquarters in Madison Heights.

Moosejaw has a slogan: Love the Madness. Employees write it at the end of every

email; it’s used as a hashtag on Instagram; it’s all over. After two days in the Moosejaw headquarters, I

realize that the people at Moosejaw not only talk about madness, they live in it.

My first day in the headquarters was tiring, a little intimidating, and a lot of fun. The company

sells outdoor recreation apparel and gear, so I wasn’t surprised to see some of the products

around the office. I was a bit taken back, however, when my co-workers pulled out nerf guns

during their lunch break. The guys like to mess around, but never to the point where someone

gets upset. Everyone is respectful of each other’s space and time, and employees in the office

are really laid back. There’s music played over the office speakers throughout the day, which

is actually pretty nice. It sometimes gives me ideas and I like to have the background noise

(although my co-workers do a nice job of providing that).

I haven’t been here long, but I already see how accepting Moosejaw is. The employees (there are

males and females at the headquarters) come from various backgrounds and places. There is no

discrimination, just an overall love for the outdoors and for Moosejaw madness. I’m proud

to be a part of the great Moosejaw team!
