Week 3 at OXO
Well, it is now my third week at my internship, and I have to say that for the first time, I feel like I actually work here. And when I say that, I mean that it is less of me learning and asking questions, and more of me just doing things. For example, when my boss tells me to send out a sample, log things on the computer, or to even work on a logistics sheet or coverage report, I know exactly what to do! It is amazing how much I have learned about the world of PR in just 3 short weeks. However, I still find myself learning more and more. These last couple of days I have been working on constant contacts, which are almost like small presentations regarding our products that we send out to editors. It is really interesting because I not only get to explain the benefits of the products, but I also get to do some writing. I am really happy about that because I love using my creative side. I have been writing the introduction to the constant contact, which is a back to school theme, and I even get to add in little jokes and puns to get a rise out of the editors. The biggest challenge for me regarding this project though, is the fact that I do not know how to write like the company. I do write for an on campus publication, but that is very different than writing to editors. So I am learning to be flexible and change my writing style just a little bit to gear it more towards the job. This week has been very interesting, but at the same time, frustrating. The air conditioning in my building has been broken for the last 3 days and it has been sweltering hot out in New York City, so the fact that the company has expected any of us to work until 5:30 PM in 90 degree weather seems slightly unreasonable. I just keep telling myself to push through it. I hope that they get it fixed. Aside from that, I typically look forward to going to work everyday, so I must be at the right internship for me.

It's great that you're starting to feel at home in your office despite the air conditioning station! The first couple weeks can definitely be an adjustment but once you get into the swing of things and figure out the best way to learn and get things done it's rewarding.
