Week 4: overcoming obstacles and getting to know coworkers

In this past week of my internship I find myself growing more and more comfortable with the DKNY atmosphere I have become a part of. I have begun to really get to know my colleagues, as well as my supervisors, on a newer and more intense level. At first, one of the hardest parts of the internship was being new, new to everyone, and not having the trust or understanding of what to always be doing, where things belonged, and just little things that make us comfortable. As time has progressed, this uncomfortable-ness, has definitely decreased, as I find myself to now be considered part of the team. Not only is this visible through my relations with my supervisors and colleagues, but also through the work I have recently been assigned to complete. My tasks have grown to much bigger projects and I am given much more responsibility each day. In addition to that, I think the level of trust has increased, as I have been given the directions, “be creative,” and “Do what you think is best, I trust you,” whereas before I was practically given a rulebook on how to do very simple tasks. While those “rule  books,” were definitely necessary in the beginning, I think I am growing each day and learning more and more.

  1. This is great that you have become accustomed to the ways of DKNY and you have found your place in the company. It seems like now that you have bigger and better tasks it will make your internship a lot more enjoyable and make your days fly by because hopefully you will like your new tasks. Enjoy!
