After the end of my third week of my internship, I received
some feedback from my employers, which were definitely helpful. One of my
responsibilities is getting the door whenever a model or street person comes to
the casting agency for either a casting or a go-see. A go-see is when models or
people will come in to the office just for general inquiries as opposed to a
specific job. Once I get the person at the door, I have them sign in. If they
are with a modeling or talent agency, they only have to fill out a sheet with
their name, age, height, and agency name. If they are not signed with an agency
(a “street person”), I have to enter them into the database so they are on file
for the future. I am supposed to find out some information about the people to
learn who they are, what their talents are, and what they do for a living. My
employers told me that I am very personable and outgoing, but sometimes I
wasn't being clear with what I was asking, and to more clearly ask people what
their occupations are and then ask for their hobbies. I noticed myself that
sometimes people would not know if I meant what they do for fun as opposed to a
job, so I am glad that was clarified for me. Afterwards I felt a lot more
confident speaking to these people, who are actually very interesting!
A task that I handled surprisingly well, which I didn't expect
to have such good feedback for was a social media-promoting job. My boss asked
me to design a page that listed all of the company’s social media handles to
put in a frame on the table that people sign in at. I used Photoshop, which I have
learned how to use better throughout the weeks, and designed a 4 x 6 layout. My
boss loved it and really liked the way I did it. I was surprised because I do
not have much knowledge in graphic design, but she was impressed with what I
did. For such a simple task, I was glad that I exceeded her expectations. Below
is a picture of the page I designed.
Overall, I think I am doing a good job for what they are
expecting from me, and I definitely want to work as hard as I am for the rest
of the summer to leave a lasting impression on my employers!
It's great that you received feedback. Regardless of whether it was positive or negative, which it seems you received a bit of both, feedback is what you need to hone your skills and become better at what you do. It's great to see that you used the feedback to help you with talking to people the next few days!
ReplyDeleteThe fact that you realized exactly what your employers told you to work on is great! There's nothing better than feedback, and you should be proud that you were able to not only accept it thankfully but also change your habits to meet the expectations is amazing!
