Week Two!!

I love getting to know everyone who works in my office! Luckily, my mentor is a female, and I really gain important knowledge from her. During my first week here Laura told me how important it was for women in leadership roles to be vocal and in charge. Being a women’s studies minor, this was very interesting and exciting for me to hear. I admire Laura’s ability to deliver tough information to people, and give constructive, yet necessary, feedback. I asked Laura what it would take for me to follow in her career path and she gave me a one-worded response; determination. I believe this advice was profoundly insightful and inspiring! I asked the director, Gregg, the same questions and he told me it would take commitment and openness to learn. I feel as though the people I am working with not only want me to help their company, but they also want me to gain a great experience through this internship. They challenge me to do things that go outside my comfort level, like putting me in meetings with heads of the company and give any recommendations for how to improve their business. While this is slightly scary, it is also very impactful and it makes me feel important. I love coming into work every day to see what they have in store for me!
